Borders of the Cher

From 1836 to 1841, the Cher was channeled between Noyers sur Cher and Saint Avertin to allow navigation in summer. 16 movable lock dams were built over 60 km. Each dam is made up of:

  • Mobile needle dam 40 to 51 m long
  • Fixed spillway 20 to 45 m
  • SAS lock of 5.2 m by 35 m

You can stroll on the banks of the Cher at dawn, at sunset, but also have a picnic in front of the lock located at the foot of the Rigodon.
